Mayfest 2016

Event Description

Mayfest celebrates its ninth year with six concerts in four beautiful Ithaca locations, including the Mayfest inauguration of the beautiful new auditorium in Klarman Hall.  Our programs feature works from the theatrical to the sublime, from vocal bird evocations to the romping good time of the Beethoven Septet.  Enjoy the lush sonorities of Franck, Strauss, and Chausson, side by side with the neoclassicism of Prokofiev, whose anniversary year we celebrate.  We remember our friend Steven Stucky, with the East Coast premiere of his Piano Quintet, and feature a new work by his student, Loren Loiacono.

Our guests this year include returning favorites, such as soprano Íride Martínez, violinists Tatiana Samouil and Xiao-Dong Wang, cellist Zvi Plesser, and percussionist Michael Compitello, and two new faces: clarinetist Chris Grymes and violist Gilad Karni.  Tickets are easy to purchase online or at the door, or you can buy a pass for the whole festival: 6 concerts for the price of 5!  We hope you will join us for this annual celebration of spring and good music.
